The Kwang Jang Market in Seoul (or also Gwangjang Market, depends on the romanization style) is a very well visited market all during the day. You can get there easily with the subway line 1 to Jongno 5 ga Station, Exit 8 and you can’t miss. Just follow the smell of food and you will find it 😉 You can also buy ton of various things like clothes and cheap things but it is definitely more famous and known for it’s food there.

Sunjin was really into buying some soon dae 순대, so we stopped by one food stall to grab some enormous huge ones. But honestly, i wasn’t that convinced about the taste and the huge size made it a little bit inconvienent to eat somehow.

I was more into the fried stuff and especially into the pancakes 빈대떡, which really taste soooo great! And if you want to eat some 빈대떡 in the Kwang Jang Market, i highly recommand you Sooni’s pancake place or just 순이네 빈대떡 !!!

We were lucky because we could get a seat immediately but sometimes you need to wait ages to get a place there. Last year when i went there we need to wait for sure around an hour to get a seat. But believe me, it’s worth the wait! Besides the normal pancake 빈대떡 we also ordered some meat pancake 고기 완자 too, which i can also highly recommand. I even like the meaty ones more..

I enjoyed it sooo much that i wanted to take some additional meat pancakes 고기 완자 home as well 😛 Hehe.. Yummy, Yummy!

These two old guys were some real trouble makers. They are called 아저씨 (A-jeo-ssi) which means like “old grumpy men” 😛 They were both extremely drunk and started to fuzz around that they want a additional Soju bottle for free because they insisted that they paid for it already. Can you see the face of the food stall owner 😀 Haha..

Most delicious Gogi Mandu in Sinchon

Gogi Mandu in Sinchon

Today i had no time for big dinning out so i decided to stop by my favorite gogi mandu place and quickly grab my dinner for tonight. Gogi mandu are meat dumplings very similar to Polish pierogi. Of course there are also different kinds of mandu (like kimchi mandu) but i prefer the meat ones! They are tasty and really, really cheap!

Gogi Mandu in Sinchon

Gogi Mandu ( 고기만두 ) costs 1,500 Won per portion what is approximately 1 Euro. But because i am a big boy i am always ordering two portions 😀

After telling my well learnt sentence “안녕하세요. 고기만두 두 개 주세요” the old woman immediately starts to heat up the gogi mandu. It really looks like a kitchen, just outside on the street 😀

Being back at home, just unpacking, putting some soy sauce over them and ready to eat. Sooooo yummy! Gogi Mandu is definitely something i will never feel sick of 😀 히히히..

If you want to try this great gogi mandu in Sinchon as well, just exit the subway exit number 5 and you will see it immediately on the right side. You can’t miss! Enjoy!

Best Gimbap 김밥 in Seoul

Gimbap 김밥

Besides eating out almost everyday i am enjoying the privilege of great home-made food from Sujin’s mom from time to time. This time i got some really, really delicious gimbap ( 김밥 ) for dinner, perfect food if you want to study and eat something meanwhile! 맛있어요!

Gimbap 김밥

Most of you will know the Japanese “Maki” which are quite similar to the Korean “Gimbap”. Basically it is steamed white rice with various ingredients and rolled into sheets of dried laver seaweed. A very healthy snack indeed!

Unfortunately Sujin’s mom lives in Busan, so i won’t get a chance to eat more of her delicious gimbap here in Seoul for the next few weeks. I’ve tried a few gimbap places in Sinchon already but i didn’t find a real good one yet. If you know a good place where to eat tasty gimbap in Seoul, please let me know in the comments. Perhaps we could start here a small list together with great gimbap places here in Seoul, how about that?
